Application These rubber bumpers may be inserted into the bottom of a furniture leg having a circular opening of 25 mm in diameter x 20 mm deep. The coarse wood threads screw into the wooden sofa leg, and the fine machine threads are 1/4-20 size for easy installation into your furniture via a 1/4-20 T-Nut. If your T-Nut is damaged or missing, but the installation site itself is still sound, a replacement T-Nut would enable the installation. Zinc Plated: Even if the screw gets damaged leaving the material underneath exposed, the Zinc Plating acts as a sacrificial shell. All of the zinc will rust before the metal underneath does. Lift it cleanly off of the ground before laying it down. Grasp the old leg and turn (counterclockwise) to unscrew the leg. Please note, the bolts are supposed to be part of the leg, not the sofa. If the bolt stayed on your sofa when you removed the leg, you’ll need some pliers to remove that bolt. Pick Correct Size Bolt | The TruFitLeg™ comes with a selection of bolts, select the size that fits correctly, set the extra bolts aside. You will need a Cross-Tip or Phillips-head screwdriver. Please carefully check the hanger bolt size on your present leg to assure that your new legs will be compatible. Both your present leg and your new leg need to have the same size hanger bolt. The common or standard Hanger Bolt size is 5/16". If your furniture item was manufactured in the United States, your Hanger Bolt is probably the 5/16" size. If your furniture is European / Italian, your Hanger Bolt is probably the Metric (M10) 10mm size (the thickest). But, it may be our new M8 size. The M8 size hanger bolt is practically identical to the 5/16" hanger bolt in diameter, but the threading on the M8 is finer.
